Steve - Head of Logistics
I started work with Maplin in the Autumn of 1988 in the newly opened Leeds store as a Sales Advisor. Working in the store, helping customers, replenishing stock and learning the differing aspects of a busy retail store, I soon began to see the impact of my work in the satisfied faces of the customers, the sales of the store and of course the financial rewards for that success.
In my years in Retail I progressed from Sales Advisor to Assistant Store Manager to Store Manager to New Store Manager. I then moved into IT in Head Office and was promoted from Programmer to IT Manager and over the last couple of years I have moved from Business Development Manager to Internet Channel Manager.
Everything I have done at Maplin has given me a sense of achievement which has become addictive. Being able to make a difference and being recognised for it is very empowering and for me, it is one of the main reasons I stay with Maplin.
In my latest role as Head of Logistics, I am looking forward to continuing to support the success of Maplin and I would definitely recommend a position with Maplin as an excellent career opportunity.
