Sam, Studio Trainee

Hello, my name is Sam and I first came to Maplin for three weeks' work experience whilst still at school.

During that time, I picked up programs such as Quark Express and Adobe Photoshop so quickly, and impressed my manager so much he offered me an apprenticeship as a Studio Trainee. I was also fortunate to be given the opportunity to study A-Level Graphic Design on a day release basis, which has helped me enormously.

Over the past few years with Maplin, my Quark and Photoshop skills have improved to a very high standard, and have moved on to use Adobe Illustrator, which has become an integral part of my job.

I have worked on many projects during my time with the company, ranging from press adverts to packing ranges, simple points of sale to a 1,000 page catalogue. I have acquired the skills to take different styles of photos, and as such have developed a genuine enthusiasm for all aspects of the job.

In conclusion, Maplin has given me an excellent introduction to the world of work, and I hope to continue learning and improving for many years to come.
