Jenny, Store Manager
My career began with Maplin in 2001. After graduating from University
in Sheffield I started working as a cashier in the Sheffield City branch.
I really enjoyed working with the team there and after a year I was
promoted to Sales Team Leader, which gave me more responsibility.
In June 2003 a new branch was opening in Aintree and as this
store was close to my home, I decided to go for the position of
Assistant Manager. I helped to train all the new staff before the
store opened as well as merchandising the shop floor. In January 2006
the Store Manager left and I was asked to take on the role temporarily.
I was successful in my probationary period so was given the permanent position.
Since becoming Store Manager I have visited many other stores
in the North West to offer support with any problems they have from
merchandising standards to training issues. I have also been a stock
take manager for the last 12 months, conducting 100% stock takes in
7 other stores.
I have enjoyed a very successful year in Aintree and really
enjoy working with the team I have built up here. Maplin offers many
opportunities for promotion with new stores opening more frequently
and more positions being created at Head Office.
I look forward to the next challenge that is offered to me.
